Summer Links and Resources
Here are some helpful links we have come across to enrich your summer!
Car Travel Tips
Here are some things you should add to your car that will help the long drive take a little less desperate feel.
1. Cookie Sheet - good as a lap desk - great for magnetic things.
2. Etch a Sketch - doesn't take a lot of room and gives you something to do.
3. I have heard that some folks put a shoe organizer on back of the front seat and then the kids can place their toys and stuff in there and not take up room on the car seats.
4. Set up rules before you go.
5. Make sure there is a boundary between your kids.
6. Take a map or atlas and some stickers and have your kids track the trip.
Summer Treats
Stargaze
Download and print a sky chart from www.skytonight.com (click on the interactive sky chart) for the date and your location. To see the planets start early in the evening. Venus appears prominently in the wester horizon right after sunset. Jupiter is the second brightest object in the sky - just look south.
Party Gear
It is so easy to invite some friends over for a great cook out. You can go to Naregint to get some great paper party wear as well as Pearlriver. Have fun and be thankful you live in a free country! Prices range form 6 to 7 dollars for 10 or 1 to 2.50 a piece. But it all looks really fancy! :)
Drive In Theater
I often forget that this is a great summer evening activity. I bet you can find one in your area. Click here to see if there is one close to you.
Volunteer!
Kids are never too young to volunteer. If you are looking for something to do this summer or a project for your kids this summer, this may be a great solution.
Don't Bug Me
This web page has a patch that you use to keep the bugs away. Great for camping or even out in the evening. Check it out!
Learning Manners
This may be a great time to work on your child's manners. A lot of manners are learned around the dinner table. Unfortunately that doesn't always happen, so go to this web page and find out how you can help your children learn manners through song. Make it a project for this summer.
