KIDS AND BREAKFAST:
Sometimes it is just hard to get your kids to eat breakfast - here are a few ideas our readers have given us!
* I think it just takes finally "hitting on" what is a breakfast favorite for your child, since each one is so unique! For my 3 y/o son, he has a hard time eating quickly (usually takes him 45 minutes to eat! he's leisurely!). But this doesn't work too well when we're trying to get someplace earlier in the morning. He will eat cheerios on the way in the car, and also LOVES cereal bars. There are some fairly healthy versions out there. Also we use the old standby, raisins! (Brenda)
* I have found something that works great in the morning with my daughter. She loves French toast but it takes some time to make and a mess to clean up on busy mornings. I know you can buy the already made ones in the freezer section but for some reason she doesn't like those. I've tried them myself and they aren't that great. So what I do is on Sunday evenings I make several pieces of French toast using either whole wheat bread or whole wheat cinnamon raisin bread. After they cool a little while I stick them in little zip lock baggies and pop them in the freezer. In the morning I just pop them in the toaster and give them to her. She loves them and there's little mess to clean up and I know that it is healthy because I made them using whole wheat bread. (Jennifer)
* Hi - Anyone who knows my kids would crack up that I am giving food advice...but I do have one thing that keeps my kids sane despite their lack of love for food....CARNATION INSTANT BREAKFAST. I mix it w/their milk & it makes such a difference in their moods...the protein really helps! (Jackie)
